This is a “must-attend” presentation for anyone with recruiting responsibilities. As the job seeker’s access to information has evolved from the world of newspaper classifieds, to job boards, to now being ruled by job aggregators, social networks, and search engines, it is vital for HR professionals to understand the different ways that these technologies work and learn to use this knowledge to their advantage. This session will help HR professionals understand how keywords affect how often your job listing is viewed on different job boards & search engines; how words within a job posting can mean different things to employers verses job seekers; which web-based tools can be used to determine the keywords that are used most often; and how to properly use keywords and job titles/descriptions based on where the job posting appears.

Bio:
Steven J Smith is a hiring optimization expert for AppliantPRO and has been in the Human Resource profession since 2005 after graduating from Brigham Young University with a BS in Finance. His strong background in Finance and Sales has helped Steven be very successful when it comes to organizational development and growth by bridging the communication gap between HR and CEO/CFOs. After receiving his PHR certification in 2008, he saw an opportunity with JobMatch LLC to continue enhancing the growth of organizations worldwide by helping with the development of HR technology to improve hiring processes and help Human Resource Professionals be more of a strategic partner within their own organizations. Steven has also been a member of SHRM for several years, and served on the Crossroads Conference Committee for the local SHRM chapter in Salt Lake City, Utah for 18 months prior to moving to Alabama. He currently serves as the Editor for the AL SHRM magazine and President of the Calhoun County AL SHRM chapter.
